Sushmita Usha Devarajan

Senior Trainer; Senior Facilitator; Facilitation Fellow, Fall 2017

Country of origin: India

Date started with Soliya: 2011

Field of work: I started my career in the fashion apparel industry and was there for seven years before I moved to the field of conflict resolution. In the last nine years, I have worked as a mediator, trainer, facilitator, and coach in educational institutions, private organisations, and non profit organisations. Outside of the work that I do with Soliya, I am a consultant with Coverdale India; we work on organisational development with a focus on enabling people to succeed together.

One accomplishment you're proud of: In 2014 I was the chosen by the UNAOC to represent India in a week long summer school that was held in New York, with 75 youth leaders from across the globe participating, to address the pressing global challenges of religious and cultural diversity.

What can you be found doing when not working/facilitating/training? You will mostly find me with my three kiddos, on walks, cycling, swimming, painting, reading, making up haikus/poems, and traveling (sometimes on my own and other times with my family). I also love to write, although haven’t done it in sometime:

Favorite food: My favourite food totally depends on my mood. I am a vegetarian. My all time favourites are falafels with lots of hummus and pickled salads or a nicely made Burmese khowsuey. I am addicted to the south-Indian filter coffee!
