Luma Kawar is President of the International Women’s Forum Jordan Chapter, which she initiated in December, 2002. She served as the co-chair of the Women Business Leaders Summit in Amman in February of 2007, where 50 CEOs from the United States met with 50 Arab Women CEOs to exchange ideas and best practices. She is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Jordan Education Trust. Previously, as the wife of Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States (2002 through 2007) Karim Kawar, Ms. Kawar was involved in many organizations such as CARE, Meridian International House, St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, and the Mosaic Foundation, for which she started the Cultural Speaker Series in order to promote a better understanding and appreciation of Arab culture in the United States. In 2000, she was elected as Chair of the Volunteer Women’s Group at the Jordan River Foundation. Ms.Kawar is a graduate of Boston College (BS).
