Connect Program Fellow Fall 2020; Senior Facilitator
Country of origin: Ukraine, current residence U.K.
Date started with Soliya: 2017
Education and field of work: M.A. in international relations. I work as a trainer and director of outreach and training for the NGO River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding. I am a graduate of the Community Leadership Institute at George Mason University, and a Chevening awardee in 2019/2020. I work under the theme of tolerance and conflict resolution with young people, and I am implementing social and emotional learning in education.
One accomplishment you're proud of: I am proud of the International Peacebuilding conference that I organized together with my team last autumn in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This event brought together young, like-minded people from 12 different countries intending to foster cross-cultural collaboration, look beyond the separation of "us" and "them," and work together towards peace.
What about Soliya inspires/motivates you to be involved? The participants inspire me. Every time I start the first session and hear the stories from the people taking part in Soliya, I understand that this is a unique program building a bridge between countries, nationalities, and people and helping them to realize that we are all the same. No matter where you live, your background, or field of work, if your heart is open to embrace the change and learn, Soliya will be your unique chance to see that change happening.
What can you be found doing when not working/facilitating/training? Running, doing yoga, meditating, or reading books.
