Mary C. Parker
1YC Fellow Summer 2020; Facilitation Fellow Fall 2017
Country of origin: USA
Date started with Soliya: 2012
Education and field of work: I combine applied theatre (playback theater and theatre of the oppressed) with comedy (improv and stand-up) to collaborate with individuals, educational institutions, and corporations who are ready to deepen their self-awareness, interrupt bias, and actively engage in dismantling oppression through services of playshops and coaching sessions. I have an M.A. in Applied Theatre from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, a B.A. in Sociology from Emory University, and a Professional Coach (PC) Certification through Duquesne University’s Palumbo Donahue School of Business.
What about Soliya inspires/motivates you to be involved? I’m inspired by the opportunities dialogue creates to make people DO better and BE better. When I was a Facilitation Fellow in 2017 I wrote this article that shares more about my motivation and inspiration to be involved: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/soliya-deal-difference-constructively-mary-c-parker-pc/
What can you be found doing when not working/facilitating/training? I am performing comedy, improv or stand-up.
